The FSSC 22000 Certification covers the entire spectrum of food safety management, including food additives and their packaging materials.

The FSSC Foundation, an organization operating in the field of the certifications in the Agri-Food Sector, based in the Netherlands, is the global non-profit and independent owner of the FSSC 22000 Food Safety Management System. Its goal is to provide confidence and make an impact in the food sector.

The FSSC 22000 is a GFSI Certified Scheme aligned with the ISO management system and the harmonized scheme approach. With the assistance of certification bodies, organizations across the food industry can achieve their business objectives.

What is the FSSC 22000 Standard?

FSSC 22000 has been delivering impact on global food safety for 15 years. The Scheme provides a certification model that can be used in the food manufacturing industry and the related supply chain to ensure food safety standards and processes. FSSC 22000 is GFSI-recognized and follows the food chain category description as defined in ISO 22003-1:2022.

FSSC 22000 certification comprises of three components: ISO 22000, the relevant PRP specification/s (ISO/TS standards and BSI PAS), and FSSC 22000 Scheme requirements. The FSSC 22000 Scheme requirements include the FSSC 22000 Additional Requirements, Scheme Interpretation Articles, and the BoS decision list as detailed under Part 2 of the Scheme document. All documents are available for download on our website. In the case of translations of the FSSC Scheme documents (including the annexes and main changes documents), the English version is the official and binding version. There is a Version 6 FAQ available that covers a variety of topics.

Product safety and quality is key in the food industry where a failure to supply safe product can potentially have devastating consequences on the health of consumers. To identify and mitigate risks along food supply chains, food suppliers must put appropriate control processes in place.

The Food Safety System Certification 22000 (FSSC 22000) is a systematic programme to managing food organisations safety responsibilities, is fully recognised by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) and follows the food chain category description as defined in ISO/TS 22003.
